PINK RIBBON PROGRAM
The Pink Ribbon Program is a
system of Pilates based exercises specifically designed for
post-operative breast cancer survivors. The exercises help survivors
regain range of motion and strength in the affected arm.
It is a non-profit organization
founded by Doreen Puglisi of the Pilates Center in Fairfield, New
Jersey. Doreen founded the program in 1998 and unfortunately,
underwent a total mastectomy in 2004 after discovering she had breast cancer.
After her surgery, no formal physical therapy was prescribed, and Doreen
was able to use the Pink Ribbon Program exercises to regain mobility,
strength, and flexibility in the affected region. This personal
experience has helped Doreen to understand and reshape The Pink Ribbon
Program to help survivors more effectively.
At The Good Space
Pilates and Yoga Studio we are dedicated to promoting a healthy
lifestyle and positive body image to all cancer survivors. The Pink
Ribbon Program will help strengthen the shoulder, chest, back and
abdominal muscles, allowing women to regain full range of motion to those
areas affected by breast cancer surgery. This program is suitable whether
your surgery was recent or several years ago.
Though the Pink Ribbon Program is
designed specifically for breast cancer survivors, we welcome any cancer
survivor with special exercise needs.
