Every Peak student, regardless of his/her fitness level or movement experience starts by learning the Introductory System. Mastering these essential exercises will create a foundation on which to progress to the next level.

I hope you all had a great Monday. I too really enjoyed the weekend and it’s helping me to refocus on my love for Pilates and not the craziness I deal with at the gym. I taught the mat class in all my classes today, 6 in all. I think it was helpful to teach to different levels and clients, see what works and what doesnt it my cueing and get into the groove. I also made a mental note of every time I said ” now we are going to”, or broke out rhythm to explain something. I’m working on it though. All in all it went well and my clients are pissed I found new ways to torture them. 🙂
I hope to carve out time on Fridays to come and observe and practice at the studio, and can’t wait to see you all again. We’ll all be amazing in a month’s time, can’t wait to learn more in October!
I just wanted to thank you all for such a great weekend of learning and getting inspired! Melody, you rock!! Our class had such good energy and I felt encouraged by all of you. Please let me know if any of you want to practice teaching each other, share private sessions at The Good Space, or drink wine while we observe and study. LOL It is awesome to be sharing this journey to excellence with each of you! Hope to see some of you in the next few weeks. Good luck to you all.
P.S. I taught the Peak Method to my group class today……and it was……SCARY and rough around the edges! But, I took a deep breath and did it. I was missing our teaching circle for sure! 🙂
Thank you so everything and not giving up on me even though I NEED TO FIND MY BUTTONS!!! I hope you have a safe flight back and keep in touch!!!! Can you send a wink if I passed the written!!! Also, let me know when the exact datesare for the Chair/Barrel workshop… I will be there!!!! You are a GREAT leader and you are a GREAT educator…. God gave you a talent for that! You know how to inspire, motivate, and teach students…. it takes a SPECIAL person to do that!!!! Again THANK YOU for the bottom of my heart!!!!
I had an excellent session this morning. The client has done private pilates for about 3 years. It was my third time working with her. On footwork her right foot kept moving out of line. I asked if anything was going on with her knee. She said it locked up the other day and she could hardly walk. I reduced the springs to 3 and she was able to keep her foot in line. After the reformer I had her do mermaid with modified legs. Her left hip is very tight. I had her do a couple of leg and hip stretches and moved on to part c and d.
It can be intimidating working with someone who has done pilates for 3 years, but the sessions with her have been great and are just getting better.
I just had to share a success during my teaching session today. I taught the reformer to Dolly (new Peak Graduate) and Michelle for our Stott Department Head and she absolutely loved the format! She offered me the usual pointers fewer words, correct with touch a bit more. She liked the continuous movement I created with my voice and transitions. I’m feeling a bit more confident now that someone outside of the Peak family enjoyed what I did. I am so excited now, a whole new level of energy! Thanks to your teaching!
I’d be happy to share my experience with others — I also used your demonstration (wrapping a towel around a water bottle to illustrate the powerhouse and the spinal cord) this Sunday with some students who were asking me why it was so important to strengthen the powerhouse — very convincing, and amazing how I could see the lightbulb go off over when they realized what I was saying. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with me — I can already feel like I’m a better teacher and able to help my students more. It’s all good!

I feel so lucky that I was able to be part of the Mat Workshop this afternoon….Pam thanked me, and I said” NO….Thank you!!” I learned so much, as I told you earlier…especially about cueing in the rhythm and economy of words and GET THEM MOVING!! I will re-write my script again…. You are a very special person with a very special gift; I am so glad that I have had the opportunity to work with you.
Just wanted to take a minute to share this with you and to say thank you. A new 8 week course started at one of the places I teach and I ended up with only one student showing up today. What has been added to my “toolbox” by the training has already taken my teaching to a whole other level that amazed even me while I was applying what I learned during the past four days.
I was in a “holy cow is this me teaching like this” place. I do not even think it was just what I learned but also the confidence I had that I could take away what I learned right away and put it into practice. I had her moving and in her powerhouse in record speed (for me)! I had the clean percise cues to get it going and the confidence that I could do really clear touch corrections. Best of all she was a very happy camper.
I just wanted to thank you for all of your wonderful professionalism delivering an outstanding Part one of the training. Wow I can see why you have your own studio and are a Trainer for a top notch company like Peak…besides your organization and great sense for detail, you LIGHT up when you teach! Your passion truly permeates through the studio! It is always great to have “Fresh Eyes” and “Trained Eyes” like yours in our studio! If you have any feedback on anything that might help our business would love to hear it.
I wanted to take a moment and thank you for all the training. This morning I taught Yoga and Cycle and the shapes in space were spilling into my other classes. Pretty awesome! I was able to use some of the same cues and connections that you have taught us. I am going to practice alot and keep this going, it feels so good!
